The survey also considers the number of electric company employees.

High-Voltage Transmission Lines

According to the latest available data, there are more than 3,300 electric companies in the United States. Approximately 200 of these provide power to the majority of the country. The electricity grid connects over four million miles of high-voltage transmission lines and has 2.5 million feeder lines. Electricity tariffs vary significantly by region. To determine the cost of power, consider where you live. If you are moving to a new neighborhood, it is likely that your neighborhood will have several utilities.
